The proposal to change Acta Endocrinologica into the European Journal of Endocrinology, and for it to become the official publication of the European Federation of Endocrine Societies (EFES), although involving necessarily somewhat protracted discussions between the various parties involved, has ultimately produced a highly satisfactory conclusion. The outcome leaves European endocrinologists with their own, yet international, publication, and at the same time it has taken an important step in the continuing evolution of a well established and respected journal. In addition, the EFES has achieved a long-standing objective to have its "own" journal, to which European endocrinologists will turn naturally to publish the ever-increasing number of high quality papers which emanate from Europe. The Journal also provides the Federation with the opportunity to publish an occasional Newsletter by which to disseminate information to its members, and thus keep them up-to-date with the work which the Executive Committee is doing on
